The oldest testimony of a Leonhardifahrt can be found in Kreuth at Tegernsee. The ride dates back to 1442. The Leonhardifahrt, however, is initially rather skeptical. A Tegernseer Benedictine notes a few years later: “It is a sin of taking a leave, if one thinks a change is profitable to the horses.” The horse blessing can not be proved, however, until secularization.

The Leonhardifahrt in Kreuth has been carried out for more than 500 years on the Leonhardi day, 6th of November. After a church service in the Leonhardi church, the magnificently decorated horse-drawn carriages with the decorated chests of the chests thrice thrice through the village.
